The Spaniards Have Won

You can read about it here. It was leaked last night and officially announced this morning. The lower cost and quicker schedule of the Spanish ships won out over the superior capability and higher benefit to Australian industry of the Gibbs & Cox, Inc. design.

I'm not sure yet what all this will mean for our family, but we've been assured we've got plenty of work to do for the next few weeks at least.

Coop,
Sorry to hear about not winning the contract. It's a real bummer to work hard and not get anything in the end. I will be praying for you and the family.

I am rather shocked. Strange how the G&C design started out as the stated favorite, then gradually slid to second place, fell from grace, lost the race. Political influences may have outweighed the technical considerations in this decision.
My esteem for you and the G&C crew is in no way diminished.

Sorry, Brian.

It is frustrating to put your best effort forward and see the job disappear for other reasons. Welcome to the world of competitive bidding.

Thanks for being a faithful and trusted worker. The Lord sees this and He will reward you (Col. 3:22ff).

Love,
Dad J

Hey, that's too bad! But it's not all for nothing! God brought you there for a reason and I'm sure wherever he takes you next will be just as wonderful!
