The Last Couple Weeks...

Have been pretty busy. Sarah and I have been taking birthing classes (learning many things which I'm grateful I never knew before), working, shopping for baby paraphenalia (cots, carseats, breast pumps, bottles, rockers, onesies, hug-a-bubs, bopees, nappies, whoopaloops and cootypoos), and generally trying to cope with a very uncomfortable pregnancy. We have had some fun doing all this, and laugh at ourselves frequently.

Here we are in the backyard getting a little documentation of the bump.

The most beautiful mother-to-be in the universe.

Here is our little buddy Terrence copying the vollyball players.

I took a littl trip out Gorge Rd to take some pictures of the rain-swollen Torrens river. We've been going through a severe drought lately and finally got a few days of rain last week.

We were able to see Comet McNaught a week ago Monday from the hills. It was pretty sweet.

This is from the beach at Carrackalinga. We went down there to our friends' parents' cottage to celebrate Nandor and his twin brothers' birthday.

This is Annie's father and his granddaughter.

Here's the birthday boys - Archos and Nandor Balogh.

Guess what...

At this month's appointment the baby looks a lot like ... A BOY! So we'll see for sure in a couple months.

Monday January 1 - New Years Eve and the Trip Home

On Monday we spent the morning sleeping and packing, and headed to the airport in the early afternoon. The whole Cooper clan plus Joe were there as well as the Johnstons minus the Heis clan.

Steve and I shrink back from the impending departure.

Tom and I look boldly into the future.

Aaron points at the little child within Sarah's womb. He wants us to name it Aaron if it's a boy, and Erin if it's a girl. Sorry Aaron.

Joe and Suz look intrigued by the ceiling.

Sarah and Dad J get teary eyed.

Kate and I wish we didn't have to part.

Here's a relic from the previous night. We went to the Larman's for new years eve, and ended up playing some more Rummikub with Jason and Sarah. We ushered in the new year with a shout of joy and a glass of champagne. And then of course a little discreet kiss.

Mom's not sure what face to make.

Suz is a bit bored with this whole saying goodbye process.

Sly. You better watch out when the two of us are in the same place.

Good old South Australia. Back to where we came from.

The Adelaide Coast welcomes us back.

Sunday December 31 - FHBC and Goodbye to Hannah and Clara

On Sunday after church Hannah and Clara flew back to Pittsburgh to their beloved husband and father. Jeremy had been at a philosopher's conference in Washington, DC interviewing for a multitude of jobs at schools all over the nation. Hopefully we'll find out soon where they'll be spending the next few years.

Sarah and Hannah bid their tearful adieus.

Clara is a bit overwhelmed by it all.

Look at that belly!

Aunt Dort and I! She says I just keep getting more handsome every time she sees me.

Gerald R. Ford and I chilling at his namesake airport.

Saturday December 30 - Christmas with the extended Johnstons and a Visit to Grandma Sagendorf

On Saturday we went up to Edmore and Mt Pleasant to visit Sarah's grandma Sagendorf and grandpa Johnston and Uncle Steve and Aunt Kelly.

Here's Grandpa Johnston and Aaron on the porch of Grandpa's new assisted living home.

Me in the car, looking afar into my destiny.

Mom J and Clara enjoy the sunny December afternoon.

Clara has a healthy love for books.

Sarah gazes unpurturbed into her destiny.

Friday December 29 - Bowling

On Friday afternoon I had the pleasure of hanging out with Suzie and her boyfriend Joe Robert. They also came along on the Johnston Bowling Adventure on Friday night.

Dad J checks out the lowest bowling scores he's ever seen while Mom J watches the other bowlers.

Aaron and Clara look at pictures of...Clara!

The smiley little lady herself.

Dad J ad Hannah laugh derisively at me in my weakest moment.

While out with Calum I purchased some new shoes - Converse All Stars. My new years resolution is to keep them ghetto white all year.

Sarah got to see one of her old high school buddies, Maria.

Dad J showing us how it's done.

Joe sneers at a slightly offended Suzie.

Tuesday December 26 - Christmas with the Johnstons and Wednesday December 27 - Lunch with Chris and Jacky

Here's Clara, Hannah's daughter, and our first niece. She is taking a break from opening the mounds of presents she got to scratch her back.

Here's Aaron, Hannah, Clara and Theresa.

Jacky looking blue.

Chris, trying to decide whether or not to believe something that Sarah just said.

Rummikub is a staple of entertainment in the Johnston household.

Sarah gets ready to destroy some wrapping paper.
